Liability for content

As a service provider, we are responsible for our own content on these pages in accordance with general laws under § 7 Abs. 1 TMG. We are not, however, obligated to monitor third-party information transmitted or stored on our platform, or to investigate circumstances indicating illegal activity (§§ 8 to 10 TMG). Obligations to remove or block the use of information under general laws remain unaffected. Liability in this regard is only possible from the moment we become aware of a specific legal violation. Upon notification of such violations, we will remove the relevant content immediately.

Liability for links

Our website may contain links to external websites of third parties over which we have no control. Therefore, we cannot accept liability for the content of these external sites. The respective provider or operator of the linked pages is always responsible for their content. The linked pages were checked for possible legal violations at the time of linking. No illegal content was identified at the time of linking. Permanent monitoring of the content of linked pages is not reasonable without specific evidence of a legal violation. Upon notification of such violations, we will remove the relevant links immediately.

Copyright

The content and works created by the operator on these pages are subject to German copyright law. Duplication, processing, distribution, and any form of commercialization beyond what is permitted by copyright law require the written consent of the respective author or creator. Downloads and copies of this site are only permitted for private, non-commercial use.

Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 27, 2026. This policy explains how Lazy Frog Games collects, uses, and protects personal data in connection with the Lost Vessel game and lost-vessel.com.

2. Data we collect

We collect the following categories of personal data:

• Account data: email address, chosen username, and a securely hashed password. For Steam-linked accounts, your SteamID and Steam profile name.
• Game data: your in-game progress (skills, inventory, equipment, achievements, faction allegiance, chat messages, raid history) stored as a save record bound to your account.
• Technical data: IP address (used for rate limiting and abuse prevention), browser user-agent, and basic device information.
• Crash telemetry: if the game encounters an uncaught error in your browser, a minimal report (error message, stack trace, page URL, your saved progress version) is sent to our server so we can diagnose and fix the issue. No keystrokes, no screen content, no input field values.
• Site analytics: we keep a daily count of unique visitors using a SHA-256 hash of (IP + date) which is truncated to 16 characters and cannot be reversed. We do not use Google Analytics, Mixpanel, or any third-party analytics provider.

3. Why we collect it

We process personal data on the following legal bases (GDPR Art. 6):

• Contract (Art. 6(1)(b)): to provide the game service, save your progress, and let you interact with other players.
• Legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)): to prevent abuse and cheating, diagnose crashes, count unique visitors at an aggregate level, and contact existing players about meaningful service changes such as launch news.
• Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)): any optional communications that go beyond the above are sent only with your explicit opt-in and can be withdrawn at any time.

4. Third-party processors

We use the following third-party services to operate Lost Vessel. Each is bound by a data-processing agreement where applicable.

• Hetzner Online GmbH (Germany) - hosts the game servers, databases, and saved progress. Data stays within the EU.
• Resend, Inc. - sends transactional emails (account verification, password reset). Resend processes recipient email addresses and message content.
• Valve Corporation - if you link a Steam account, we exchange identity data with Steamworks to verify ownership of the game and to display Rich Presence. Steam's own privacy policy applies to that data.

We do not sell or rent personal data to third parties for marketing purposes.

5. Retention

• Account + game data: retained for as long as your account exists. If you request deletion (see below) or stop using your account for an extended period, we may delete the account.
• Crash telemetry: retained up to 90 days, then anonymized or deleted.
• Server logs (including IP addresses): retained up to 30 days for security and abuse-prevention purposes.
• Email delivery logs from Resend: retained according to Resend's own retention policy (typically 30 days for log data).

6. Cookies and local storage

Lost Vessel does not use tracking cookies. We use your browser's localStorage to remember:

• Your sign-in token (JWT) so you don't have to log in every time.
• Your local cache of game state (for fast loading and offline progression).
• UI preferences (audio volumes, inventory filters, etc.).

This data lives only in your browser. You can clear it at any time via your browser settings. Clearing it will sign you out and may briefly desync your local cache from the server's authoritative state.

7. Your rights under GDPR

If you are in the EU, EEA, UK, or any jurisdiction with comparable data protection law, you have the right to:

• Access your personal data (Art. 15 GDPR).
• Correct inaccurate data (Art. 16).
• Delete your data (Art. 17). This includes account closure and removal of game saves.
• Restrict processing (Art. 18).
• Data portability - receive your data in a machine-readable format (Art. 20).
• Object to processing based on legitimate interest (Art. 21).
• Withdraw consent at any time, where consent is the legal basis.
• File a complaint with a supervisory authority. In Germany, this is your state's Landesbeauftragter für Datenschutz.

To exercise any of these rights, email zimletsplay@gmail.com with a clear description of your request. We will respond within 30 days as required by GDPR Art. 12(3).

8. Children

Lost Vessel is not directed at children under 16. If you are under 16, please do not create an account or provide personal data. If we become aware that we have collected personal data from a child under 16 without parental consent, we will delete that data promptly.

9. Security

We protect your data with industry-standard measures: HTTPS for all traffic, bcrypt password hashing, prepared SQL statements to prevent injection, rate limiting on sensitive endpoints, and segregated server access. No system is perfectly secure, but we treat the data you entrust to us seriously.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the game evolves or as the legal landscape changes. Material changes will be announced via an in-game notice or a posting on lost-vessel.com. The "Last updated" date at the top of this section reflects the current revision.

Terms of Service

Last updated: May 27, 2026. By creating an account or playing Lost Vessel, you agree to these terms.

1. The service

Lost Vessel is an online idle role-playing game operated by Lazy Frog Games and accessible via lost-vessel.com and through the Steam client. The game is provided as a service. We may change, suspend, or discontinue features at any time, with or without notice.

2. Your account

• One account per person. Creating multiple accounts to gain an unfair advantage (in PvP or otherwise) is prohibited.
• You are responsible for keeping your password and Steam login credentials secure.
• You must be at least 16 years old to create an account. If you are below the age of majority in your jurisdiction, you also need parental or guardian consent.
• You agree to provide accurate information at signup (including a real email address you control) and to keep it up to date.

3. Acceptable use

You agree NOT to:

• Use cheats, bots, automated scripts, or third-party tools that modify the game or grant unfair advantage.
• Exploit bugs intentionally for personal gain. If you find a bug, please report it instead.
• Harass, threaten, dox, or abuse other players in any chat, comment, raid notification, or in-game communication.
• Post hateful, discriminatory, sexually explicit, or illegal content in any user-visible field (including usernames, chat messages, and faction names).
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to other accounts, the game's servers, or any underlying infrastructure.
• Sell, trade, or share accounts. Real-money trading of in-game items, currency, or progress is prohibited.
• Use the service in any way that violates applicable law (including German or EU law).

Violations may result in chat mutes, account suspensions, or permanent bans, with or without prior warning depending on severity. We reserve the right to remove user-generated content (chat messages, usernames) without notice if it violates these terms.

4. User-generated content

You retain ownership of content you submit (chat messages, custom usernames, etc.). By submitting it, you grant Lazy Frog Games a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to display, distribute, and store that content as necessary to operate the game.

5. Intellectual property

All artwork, code, music, gameplay systems, item designs, lore, and trademarks associated with Lost Vessel are the property of Lazy Frog Games or are used under license. You may not copy, modify, reverse-engineer, or redistribute the game's assets except as expressly permitted (e.g. sharing screenshots and streaming gameplay for personal, non-commercial use is welcomed).

6. Purchases and payments

Lost Vessel is currently free to play on the web. Once the full game launches on Steam, purchases will be processed by Valve Corporation under Steam's own Steam Subscriber Agreement and refund policy. Lazy Frog Games does not process payments directly.

7. Disclaimer of warranties

Lost Vessel is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that bugs will be fixed within a particular timeframe.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Lazy Frog Games shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to lost progress, lost virtual items, or lost playtime, arising out of or related to your use of Lost Vessel. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for damages that cannot be excluded under German law (such as injury to life, body, health, or damages caused by gross negligence or intent).

9. Termination

You may stop using Lost Vessel at any time and request deletion of your account (see Privacy Policy, section 7). We may suspend or terminate your account for violations of these terms. On termination, your access to the service ends and your associated save data may be deleted.

10. Governing law and venue

These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany, excluding the UN Convention on the International Sale of Goods and excluding any choice-of-law rules. Mandatory consumer protection law of your country of residence remains unaffected. The place of jurisdiction for disputes is the location of the operator's registered office, to the extent permitted by law.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the game evolves. Material changes will be announced via an in-game notice or on lost-vessel.com at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of the service after that date constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

12. Severability

If any provision of these terms is held to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full effect.
